Sowing seeds of peace.

Peace, Leadership, and Entrepreneurship

Opportunities to acquire peacebuilding skills and knowledge remain inaccessible and costly in war-torn countries like the DR Congo. Those who most need peace do not have the knowledge and skills to build it, a paradox that must change through hard work and a paradigm shift. Thus, the Congo Peace Academy community is convinced that as much as we invest in a scientific, business or engineering career, it is necessary to devote time and resources to developing and nurturing basic peace-building skills and knowledge to make peace possible.

Our Vision

Our vision is to transform the Democratic Republic of Congo into a more peaceful country where everyone can live and thrive without the daily fear of violence and war.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create one million young entrepreneurial leaders and peacemakers who will transform the Democratic Republic of Congo into a more peaceful and prosperous country where everyone can live and thrive without the daily fear of violence and war by 2030.

Partners

Congo Peace Academy empowers communities with the civic knowledge and skills needed to foster an environment conducive to business and economic growth by instilling the skills, competencies, and core values young people need to be ready for social engagement, political awareness, and personal effectiveness in order to take advantage of the enormous opportunities that a diverse but peaceful country can offer.

We partner with reputable educational institutions, such as universities and vocational schools, to develop and deliver relevant courses and training programs. Partnerships with universities, high schools, NGOs and government agencies help to make learning about peace and change accessible, available and affordable to all.

Core values

1. Accountability:

Congo Peace Academy prioritizes accountability as a core value, ensuring that all members of the organization are responsible and transparent in their actions and decisions. This helps to build trust and credibility with stakeholders and promote a culture of integrity.

2. Collaboration:

Another core value for Congo Peace Academy is collaboration, emphasizing the importance of working together effectively to achieve common goals. This involves fostering partnerships with other organizations, encouraging teamwork among staff members, and promoting open communication and cooperation.

3. Empowerment:

Congo Peace Academy also prioritize empowerment as a core value, seeking to empower individuals and communities to take charge of their own development and peace-building efforts. This involves providing training, resources, and support to help people build their skills and capacities, as well as promoting participatory decision-making processes.

4. Respect:

Finally, Congo Peace Academy adopts respect as a core value, emphasizing the importance of treating all individuals with dignity and compassion. This involves promoting diversity and inclusion within the organization, as well as fostering a culture of mutual respect and understanding.

In addition, the academy makes a difference by providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by crises and disasters, and by advocating on behalf of the community. We believe that justice means enabling every member of our community to access all the resources they need to thrive, regardless of race, wealth, gender, sexual orientation or culture.

Approach

The Congo Peace Academy is an institution dedicated to promoting peace, stability and development in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). We organize and co-sponsor training and life-changing workshops and conferences involving hundreds of participants, and the impact continues to grow every year. To achieve our goal, the Academy takes a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of conflict and instability in the country. Here are the key elements of our approach to peace-building, leadership and entrepreneurship development:

Conflict resolution and mediation training

The academy provides training programs that equip young people with skills in conflict resolution and mediation. This help to reduce tensions between different groups in the society and prevent conflicts from escalating into violence.

Leadership development programs

The academy offers leadership development programs that focus on ethical leadership, good governance, and accountability. This helps to build a cadre of leaders who are committed to promoting peace, stability, and development in the country.

Entrepreneurship development programs

The academy also provides entrepreneurship development programs that equip individuals with skills in business management, financial literacy, and market analysis. This helps to create economic opportunities for young people and reduce their vulnerability to recruitment by armed groups.

Community engagement programs

The academy engages with local communities to understand their needs and concerns. This helps to build trust between the academy and the communities it serves. Our members pledge to foster respect, tolerance, and diversity, with equal appreciation for all ethnic groups, cultures, religions, genders, and sexual identities.

Research and analysis

The academy conducts research and analysis on the root causes of conflict and instability in the DRC. This will help to inform its programs and interventions.

 Partnership building

The academy builds partnerships with other organizations that share its vision of promoting peace, stability, and development in the DRC. This helps to leverage resources and expertise to achieve goals.

Our youth empowerment activities

Leadership Training

One of the most effective ways to empower young people is to provide them with leadership training. This includes workshops, seminars, and mentorship programs that focus on developing skills such as communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. By equipping young people with these skills, Congo Peace Academy ensures they will be better prepared to take on leadership roles in their communities and make positive changes.

Entrepreneurship Programs:

Another way Congo Peace Academy empowers young people is to provide them with entrepreneurship programs. These include training in ideation, business management, marketing, and financial literacy. By giving young people the tools they need to start and run their own businesses, Congo Peace Academy ensures they will be able to create jobs for themselves and others, contribute to the economy, and gain a sense of independence and self-worth.

 Civic Engagement Projects:

Encouraging young people to get involved in civic engagement projects is also an effective way to empower them. This includes volunteering for local organizations, participating in community events, or even running for office. By encouraging them to get involved in their communities in meaningful ways, Congo Peace Academy ensures young people will develop a sense of ownership and responsibility for their surroundings.

Digital Skills Training:

In today's digital age, it's essential for young people to have basic digital skills such as coding, web design, and social media management. We are providing young people training in these areas to help them access new opportunities and connect with others around the world.

Advocacy

Peace and stability in Congo:

Congo Peace Academy advocates for several global issues that are affecting the country and the African continent as a whole. One of the primary issues that we focus on is the promotion of peace and stability in Congo. The country has been marred by conflicts and violence for decades, resulting in the displacement of millions of people, loss of lives, and destruction of infrastructure. The academy works towards promoting peaceful coexistence among different ethnic groups, political factions, and communities in Congo.

Good governance and accountability

Congo Peace Academy advocates for good governance and accountability in the country. Corruption is rampant in Congo, and it has hindered development and progress in various sectors such as health, education, and infrastructure. The academy promotes transparency, ethical leadership, and accountability among public officials to ensure that resources are channeled towards improving the lives of citizens.

Environmental conservation:

Congo is home to one of the world's largest rainforests, which plays a crucial role in regulating the global climate. However, deforestation, illegal logging, and poaching have threatened the existence of this vital ecosystem. Therefore, the academy promotes sustainable forestry practices, wildlife conservation, and environmental education to protect Congo's natural resources.
